It was really hot yesterday at school. I got a really bad headache and Mama Monkey had to pick me up from school. I fell asleep almost as soon as I got home. I still don't feel well so I'm staying home today. I'll have more to tell you next week when I feel better.
I was sad that we had to go to school yesterday because I thought we would all miss out on seeing the solar eclipse. What I didn't know was that Mr. Howler planned a surprise. After breakfast he started doing a lesson about the solar eclipse and when he was finished he told us we were going to make special eclipse viewers from our paper plates!
Mr. Howler made us put a pinhole in one plate and then we would go outside and stand with our backs facing the sun. He instructed us to hold up the second paper plate further away from the first plate with the hole and we were able to see the shadow of the eclipse on the plate! We went outside when it was the darkest, and then he led us inside.
Mr. Mandrill and the other teachers then put mirrors outside and placed them to where they would reflect on the wall so we were able to watch more of the eclipse while we were in our classroom. It was a great day and I can't wait for the next eclipse, because I'll be ready for it!
It was really hot yesterday and I begged Mama Monkey to let me stay home and swim but she said no and even walked me to school. How rude! I'm still tired because I'm used to sleeping a little later in the morning.
Today wasn't much cooler. Mr. Howler opened the windows, but it was still sticky. I wanted to swim in the river when I got home from school, but Mama Monkey made me finish my homework. I'm going to go back now before it gets too late and Mama Monkey makes me take a bath. I hope you have a good first week of school. Let me know how your week went, I'd love to hear from you.
I can't believe that summer is almost over. School starts on Monday and that makes me sad. Especially since it's still warm enough outside to swim in the stream. Also, I don't know why, but the days feel like they're shorter than when I'm in school. I'm having a great summer. Little Ape is still away visiting his Grandma so no one has been bothering us. I'm going to play outside now while I can still stay out later. See you soon!
This week was a really stinky week! I played friendly mushrooms with my friends on Monday. I didn't find the friendly mushroom though, and I paid for it for the rest of the week. I'm finally feeling better. It's too long of a story for me to tell you, but you can read it in Turtle Monkey and the Unfriendly Mushrooms. Oh, and please don't eat any of the mushrooms, whether you think they're friendly or not!
