It's tough being in third grade. I can't believe how hard class is compared to last year. I have homework already too! I wanted to tell you all about school yesterday, but I had to finish my math homework, and I had more today! Mama Monkey says that I should be glad I'm not older. I'm so tired from having to think, that I'm going to go lie down now. Hopefully, I'll have more energy and more stories for you next week!
I can't believe it's only Wednesday and we got homework! What is this craziness? I have to write a paragraph on what I did this summer, and it's due this Friday. I did so much over the summer, that I don't know what to put in there. I'm hoping what I wrote after school today will be entertaining enough.
Yesterday I realized that school starts next week. I like school, but summer is never long enough. I decided to see how late I could stay out today, but a horrible thing happened...even worse than remembering school starts Monday...the grasshoppers found me!
I thought they were gone for the season, but a few of them were hiding in my treehouse. I climbed in as usual, and nothing appeared out of the ordinary. I went to go get my chair from the corner and that's when they attacked! One landed on my ear, another on my shoulder and another on my foot. I did the grasshopper freak-out dance and almost fell off the treehouse ladder.
I've decided to stay out of the treehouse until the leaves start falling from the trees. I guess there'll be no hiding on Monday when school starts.
Last night we made popcorn for a snack. We didn't eat all of it. I was looking forward to eating some for breakfast this morning, but it was all gone! Mama Monkey left early this morning so I couldn't ask her if she ate it. I noticed a few things out of place. Even if she was in a hurry, Mama Monkey doesn't leave things just lying around. I began to get very scared. I thought someone came into our house, ate our popcorn, and made a mess looking for other stuff to eat.
I became even more nervous when I realized Fuzztastic was hiding. I thought that maybe that popcorn snack eater was still there so I ran as fast as I could out of the house and over to Aunt Fuchsia and Uncle Titian's house.
When I got there, Uncle Titian was out looking for one of the dogs. Aunt Fuchsia recommended that I wait until he came back to ask if he could go through our house. But I didn't want to wait so I set out to find him.
I found Uncle Titian walking towards my house. When I caught up with him, he told me to be quiet because he was tracking the Rollo. I told Uncle Titian why I ran out of the house and begged him to look for the popcorn snack eater and make sure they weren't under my bed!
Uncle Titian got a strange look in his eyes when I said that. Then decided that it was a good idea to check the house for the popcorn snack eater. He told me to wait outside while he looked. I paced on the porch until a short while later, when I heard him laughing. He came out of the house holding Rollo. Rollo was the popcorn snack eater, naughty dog. We had a good laugh and I went back into the house to clean up so Mama Monkey didn't come home to a mess.
