Happy Birthday Miss Turtle! I hope you have as much fun today as when you painted your shell like a pumpkin for Halloween!
I am glad to be friends with Coco Monkey, Cappy Monkey, and Squirrelly Monkey. I like making new friends. Will you be my new friend? Anyway, Happy Friendship Day!
Las week Mama Monkey told me that I'd gotten into enough mischief this summer. She said I'd have to go to summer camp so I'd have something to do besides getting into trouble. I think it's really because Mama Monkey wants to sit in the hammock and not have to chase after me.
My first day at camp was yesterday. I was glad to see Cappy there. At least I had one friend to talk to. I figured my first day would be spectacular. I was wrong. Since I was new to camp, the counselor chose me to pick an activity. I didn't have any idea of what you actually do at camp if it's not a sleepover camp and I told her so.
Miss Turtle decided to talk us into doing a play (boring!). She had a simple play outline and all we had to do was make costumes. I was playing a tree and the trunk had a hole in it so I could see where I was going.
Today during practice, I missed my cue because Cappy was being obnoxious. I was mortified when Miss Turtle called me a second time. I could tell she was really irritated. I rushed out and tripped over a rope and fell right on my face. When I sat up , I saw a tree limb had broken off.
Miss Turtle said it wasn't a big deal and we could glue the limb back on and try again tomorrow. As long as it doesn't fall off again, maybe I'll survive the play!
Happy Birthday, Mary, from all of us here in Monkeyville. We hope your cat doesn't get into your cake the way Fuzztastic did to Turtle Monkey on her birthday! We want you to have a great day!
We found a swamp close to our village. We stumbled across it accidentally when Cappy got lost during a game of hide and seek. There were lots of puddles and mud but as you went further in, there were CROCODILES and ALLIGATORS!
We had no idea how to tell them apart so we had to ask Uncle Titian. Uncle Titian took us on a little field trip back to the swamp. He pointed out that alligators have darker skin and a rounder nose and crocodiles have a triangular nose and lighter skin.
He was quick to point out, that both crocodiles and alligators liked to eat little monkeys and suggested that we stay away from them. I told him that I doubt we'll go often because I don't like the swamp anyway because the ground is too muddy and it smells funny there.
Hi everyone! I know it’s been a while since I stopped by to chat, but I had a harrowing adventure this week! The other day, I was out playing hide and seek with my friends. I remembered a good hiding spot from last summer when I won a game of “Friendly Mushrooms.” Only those mushrooms were Unfriendly Mushrooms—they made me ill.
Anyway, I headed off in the direction of that hiding spot. I was glad to see that the tree was still there. I climbed up the tree and slipped into the hole in its trunk. I chuckled to myself because I knew that I’d be hard to find.
I don’t know how long I was hiding before I heard my friends calling me. I tried to get out of the tree, but I got stuck! I didn’t want to give my hiding spot away but I couldn’t get out. I started calling and Coco Monkey found me. It turns out that I won the game which was good, but I was trapped in the tree trunk and that was bad.
My friends tried to pull me out of the tree trunk but weren’t able to so Cappy Monkey ran off to get Mama Monkey and Squirrelly Monkey and Coco Monkey stayed with me to keep me company. Mama Monkey looked annoyed especially since she couldn’t get me out of the tree either. She finally had to get Uncle Titian to help.
Uncle Titian brought his saw and that made me nervous. He promised not to get too close and started cutting a bigger hole in the tree trunk. It took a long time, but he finally made the hole big enough for me to wriggle out of. I was in such a hurry to get out of the tree that I slipped and fell. Mama Monkey said I had sprained my ankle. I had to rest my leg for a few days.
I’m finally allowed out of the house again. Squirrelly Monkey made me a raft that I can lay on while we’re in the river. I’m so glad to be able to go outside again!
