Something gross happened today. I saw what looked like dirt on the porch. I pointed this out to Mama Monkey and she said that it was bug poop. I was horrified. Why would bugs poop on our porch? That's just not right! Those bugs need to poop on the lawn like every other wild animal. They made another chore for me to do. I don't like sweeping.
We had a really good class yesterday. We learned in science that the sun is a star and that stars are made up of gas. I forgot my permission slip and felt really sad when Mr. Howler told me I couldn’t go into the forest and watch the stars with the class that evening.
Mama Monkey must have found the slip because she came to school just to deliver it personally to Mr. Howler. Mama Monkey also dropped off something for me to eat that evening as well. Little Ape piped in and said Mama Monkey didn’t want me to be home so early to pester her and that is why she came. That made me feel bad, until Squirrelly spoke up and told Little Ape that he was just cranky ‘cause HE was more full of gas then the sun.
When the bell rang, Mr. Howler ordered us to stay put until the school emptied. Once the halls quieted, he led us out of the back entrance to the school and into the forest. We took our backpacks and things and put them at the base of a tree. We all sat in the trees eating our snacks as we watched the sun set. Mr. Howler gave us a lesson about the stars, and then we were walked home. I hope we have more lessons like that, it was fun!
Today was a very nice day for the first day of Spring. The trees are budding and the birds are singing. It was a good day to be outside, especially since I had bad gas today. I hope everyone enjoyed their day as much as I did!
I had a great St. Patrick's day. I am very glad to be green, so even if I forget to put on anything green, I don't get pinched. I pinched a lot of my friends today because they did not have anything green on them or with them. It was so much fun. Little Ape said I was cheating because I am green all year round. I told him that he was just jealous because he has to remember every year and I don't.
Mama Monkey must have known I was on a pinching spree though. She made sure to put green ribbons on Fuzztastic and Bride. The frogs (Ribbit & Croaky) are green and the spiders...well it would be gross if I pinched them because they would squish. I will just have to go out and find some unsuspecting neighbors to pinch--like Aunt Fuchsia and Uncle Titian. (Green clashes with their fur).
When we lost an hour on Sunday, I didn't miss it. Apparently, the adults did. Mama Monkey has been dragging for the past two days. Even Mr. Howler seems to have lost his spark. He didn't even have enough energy to yell at me on Monday--he just put me out into the hall again. I like sitting in the hall. I can watch the other kids pass by. I noticed the adults were dragging their tails, like we do when a new school year starts. I wonder when the adults will go back to normal. I would rather have a "talking to" than just get sent out into the hall for being annoying.
I woke up early today because I thought it was a school day. I was glad that Mama Monkey reminded me that it wasn't. She told me it was good that I woke up early because daylight savings time starts tomorrow and we lose an hour. I asked her how that happens. Where did the hour we lose go? Did it go where all the socks and food storage containers went?
Mama Monkey laughed and said no, we put our clocks ahead in the spring and we get the hour back in the fall when the clocks get put back an hour. I said that is good and that maybe this year the hour could bring back my favorite fuzzy sock that ran away and also the three containers that left their lids in Mama Monkey's pantry. Mama Monkey said that would be nice, then shooed me out of the door so I could play with my friends.
There were a lot of kids having the farts today in class. I have no idea what they ate, but it continued all through the school day. It got so bad, that Mr. Howler had to open the windows. I was not happy about that because it was cold out today and the room got so cold, I had a hard time holding my pencil.
Coco Monkey is still away visiting her sick Grandma and I found out that she won't be home until Saturday. I am hoping that this farty day doesn't happen again tomorrow because I can't bear the farts alone. Coco Monkey usually has good ideas and right now I am all out of them. Wish me luck for tomorrow!
